$2,540,000:
4. The chief items in respect of which the expenditure has exceeded the estimate are:
(1) Pensions. $18,000.
(2) General Post Office - $25,000.
(3) Medical Department including launch for the Health Officer - $20,000.
(4) Military Expenditure: $80,000.
(5) Miscellaneous services including the expenditure in connection with the plaque about $90,000.
5. It is satisfactory on the other hand to be able to report that the revenue has also been greatly in excess of the amount which it was expected to yield, mainly owing to the increased receipts from Land sales, stamps, and the business of the Post Office.
I now estimate that the total receipts for the current year will amount to about $2,580,000 leaving a surplus of revenue
